When designing and building Playa Cielo, we believed it was important to consider the imprint we leave and the effects we have on our environment and planet. We have worked with Nudura (www.nudura.com), in building the villas as well as using only cultivated acacia, teak and cedar wood. Our roofs are made from natural clay tiles which keep our casitas cool for your comfort and for keeping energy consumption down. Our other initiatives include:

• Complete, independent septic system that recycles water into the irrigation of our gardens (www.eloy-cr.com)
• Chemical-free, saltwater swimming pool 
• Use of energy saving light bulbs and appliances wherever possible.
• Monthly beach clean-ups involving the community.
• Recycling garbage program
